Next DBC meetings and programs

All meetings held in the Education Business Hall (EBH) at Fort Lewis College at 6:00 p.m., unless stated otherwise.  From Durango, go up 8th Avenue to the college. Turn left at the first light (Rim Drive). Turn into the first parking lot (you can park there). EBH is the building on your left as you enter the parking lot. Parking on campus is free after 5:00 p.m. Google map link

20 May 2026 at 6:00 p.m. Room 055. Presentation by Kurt Hillman, DBC Treasurer, Tips to Improve Your Bird Photography.

19 August 2026 at 6:00 p.m. Our favorite photos. DBC members will "show and tell" five of their favorite, high quality, bird photos. Members who want to participate must send their photos by 5 August to Catherine Ortega. You must have taken the photos yourself, but they can be from anywhere in the world.

18 November 2026 at 6:00 p.m. Organizational meeting for paid members only.

Wednesday Morning Bird Walks with Lisa! All levels, including beginners.

We meet every Wednesday through September in the Botanic Gardens near the painted wall in front of the Durango Public Library at 8:00 a.m. After exploring the Animas River Trail, we will finish around 9:30.

Saturday, May 2. Field Trip to Pastorius Reservoir. 8:00 a.m. Leader: Stephen Tarnowski. Hoping to see all kinds of birds as we get right into the peak of spring migration!

 

May 6 through May 10. Ute Mountain Mesa Verde Birding Festival. Some tours still have openings (Not a DBC event)

 

Sunday May 17. Mesa Verde National Park Guided Bird Walk, 7:00 a.m. Knife Edge Trail. Registration is required, call 970-529-4629 to register. This is one of my favorite trails to bird this time of year - there are usually a ton of singing Orange-crowned and Virginia's Warblers (not a DBC event)

Wednesday, May 20 at 6:00 p.m. Education Business Hall, Room 55. Presentation by Kurt Hillman, Tips to Improve your Bird Photography. 

 

Saturday May 30. Meet up at Rotary Park. 8:00 a.m. Join fellow birders for a relaxed walk around the Hatchery area and up along the river trail.
